When Your Personal Journal Turns into a Blog about Cancer

Hi!

My name is Shelby Donald, I am a kick ass wife, dog mom, owner of Grounded Physical Therapy in Long Beach, CA, yoga enthusiast and Breast Cancer patient.

For the last 3 months, since I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I have been writing a detailed journal of my thoughts, questions and answers with oncologists/surgeons, ideas, research facts, inspirations and heavy nightmarish dreams. I intended this journal to be for my eyes only, my journey was going to be private.

The more worked my way through the medical system, as a health care worker myself, the more I thought I should share this with friends, family and future clients. A few loved ones of mine have always told me that I have a voice, and I should find an outlet to use it. So here I am, writing up the journey I have had while navigating Breast Cancer at the age of 32.

In the next few posts, I will be discussing the roller coaster of emotions of being a patient, the benefits of prepping your body, mind, house and fridge for surgery, the reasons we say "In sickness and in health" on our wedding days, how to create a healing retreat for your self at home when it is your time to heal, how to "Let food be thy medicine and medicine thy food" as Hippocrates put it, and the many books I researched while making my treatment decisions.

If you are reading this and are a Breast Cancer patient, well girl I got you! Please feel free to contact me personally for mentor ship and an over the phone hug. If you stumbled upon this blog as you are researching cancer care tips for a loved one, I hope you find a few gems on how to be a rocking caregiver. If you are my wonderful friends, family and current clients, thank you for reading and continuing to support me in all the ways you do.

Peace and love!

XOXO

Shelby
